The materials we use

Steel: We use only known steels, nothing found or repurposed. This way we know exactly how the knife will perform when you receive it. Any knife you get from us will last a lifetime with proper care.

High Carbon-

We use 10 series steel for most of our carbon steel knives. In the beginning we used only 1075 and we still use it today. 1075 is noted being used in much larger pieces such as swords, but we use for a simple reason: We know it. 1075 heat treats well, works easily, and is easily maintained by a new carbon steel knife owner.

Stainless-

Since acquiring a kiln in the past year and through some experimentation we have settled on AEB-L. AEB-L is an older well established stainless steel originally designed for use in razor blades. It is also noted to be more easily worked and sharpened for ease of maintenance.

Handle Material:

Wood- All wood used on our knives is stabilized. This a process in which all the air in the wood is removed and replaced with resin and cured. This process makes the wood have properties of synthetics and is extremely resistant to water, dry rot, and movement. The majority of this wood we buy from vendors that professionally stabilize exotic woods (Rob from Robs Wild Wood (IG: @robswildwood) and Matt from King and Queen Woods (IG: @_king_and_queen_woods). We have stabilized some wood in house, mostly spalted tamarind.

Synthetics-G10, Micarta, Resin, you name it we have used a huge variety and keep a large amount of different types on hand. Any synthetic material is long lasting and will hold up to what ever you throw at it.
